More than 4,500 journalists from 346 media organizations at home and abroad have filed application to report the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, said Zhu Shouchen, vice director of the press center for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of New China on Sept 22, 2009.
The press center officially opens to journalists on September 22, 2009, and meanwhile, the press centre's website (www.60newchina.cn), constructed by People's Daily Online (PD Online), also goes online.
The website, offering latest news, announcement and communications, media service as well as live broadcast in Chinese (traditional and simplified) and English, provides journalists from both home an abroad with all the information on the grand celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China. A working group of PD Online will station at the centre offering information query and technical services. Meanwhile, PD Online will also live broadcast all the press conferences to be held at the centre.
Located in Media Centre, west of Chang'an Avenue, the press centre will approve and issue accreditation cards for journalists from Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan and overseas, handle interview applications, organize press conferences and group interview, provide accredited media with telecommunication and data services, as well as answer questions of common concern.
